June 15,2010

Just a quick post to update, they found that my port had a bad infection in all three of the lines and are treating me with antibiotic to get rid of it. I am doing much better today and can say I feel more like myself. My hair is starting to fall out and I am having issues but will make it. I had a wonderful lady come from the American Cancer Society and we tried on wigs, hats, and even beanies. We had quite the fashion show. She left me with some wigs and fun hats so look out now for the new me! (Have to find the humour in all of this).
I am looking forward to seeing my little niece, Malaree again today, she has a date with grandpa to the hospital and I am so excited. I love all my nieces and nephews!

  2. Hey there,

So sorry to hear that you ended up with an infection also!! I guess it was probably a good thing you were still at the hospital and not chillin at my place yet. Glad that you are already feeling a little better since they got you on the antibiotic.

So, I had a little thought as I read your post. You should know that if you grow tired of the wigs & hats that your ACS friend left with you, I inherited my mom's boxes of dress up stuff. I am pretty sure we can find you an "eye-catching" hat and/or a "colorful" wig to help you liven up or add a little variety to your new look (you know that mom would have offered to let you go through it if she were here, right? smile)...oh the fun we are going to have in the next couple months ;-)

Feel better. I'll chat with you soon!

    Love ya!!

  3. Geneice, No wonder you were feeling so rotten.
Infections can reak havack with the human body.
I am glad you are feeling better now. I hope the hair thing won't be to big an issue. My mom had a hard time with that when she went through chemo and found that a turban type thing was the most comfortable for her. This to shall pass. May be your hair will come back in curly? How would that be? You are constantly in my thoughts and prayers. What a great example you are to all your family and friends. Keep the faith. Love you tons!!!

  5. Geneice,
Well, maybe you could go back to the BIG BEAR RIVER hair! Maybe red? We will all love you no matter what! Remember you are a daughter of God and he doesn't care either. We are all created in His image. Love to you always! Maybe I'll have to snag Steph for my next trip down:)

  6. Hello my friend,

Not a day goes by that I don't thank you for all the strenght you share with the world. It keeps the rest of us finding the good in our days. I hear that hair is overrated. No matter what your outside looks like your insides shine so bright and that is what we love about you.
    Keep a chin up.
    Lots of love, Carla
